Chateauneuf de Grasse

Garden for an Ancient Monastery

This former medieval monastry was converted into a family home in the 1960s. The garden, designed at that time, had become worn and messy and needed refreshing. We are gradually working to enhance and beautify the different areas of the garden.

The property features an expansive olive grove spread across multiple levels. Our vision is to strengthen the natural flow of the olive grove, its ancient stone walls and tall cypresses allowing the house and its surrounding green spaces to blend seamlessly into it. Rather than creating sharply divided zones, the more cultivated areas naturally transition into the broader landscape.

The first area we focused on was the entrance. Our goal was to create a classic mediterranean planting scheme that would clearly define the entryway. We introduced structure and color to give this space its own identity, while preserving the openness and natural flow of the olive grove.

Next, we will work on the pool area and terraces, continuing to revitalize and update the existing garden.
