Concept Plan for a Forrest Garden

Four wide “steps of grass” open up the garden area to the surrounding forest.

Located in a unique spot with miles of views, surrounded by forests and overlooking the landscape, the owners wanted to add more structure and definition to their terrain. without loosing the balance with the surroundings. The focus is created via the circle driveway.

The most logical approach was to connect the garden to the landscape, making full use of the surrounding beauty by opening up the garden to the forest and blending it into the natural surroundings.

the grass steps lead to the gravel open space under the trees, continuing into the rest of the land and on into the forest. This invites exploration and seamlessly connects the more cultivated garden with the wilder area. It also practically provides access for a parked car to enter the garden via the back.

The challenge was to simplify the lines and create a layout that would complement the natural flow of the terrain, while incorporating the owners’ request for a parking circle for occasional visitors.

The driveway will function as an axis along the house and the existing restanques, with a showy border between house and the driveway. Materials used include reclaimed stones from the property, perfectly matching the existing color scheme.
