The garden told the story of Manchester’s industrial past and its opportunities for the future. The project was done by Exterior Architecture (London) on commission from the City of Manchester. I oversaw the planting and created the composition on site.
The planting was a delicate blend of four different concepts, serving as examples of options for a changing climate: Parkland (wild and edible), Remedial (pioneering species), SUDS (wetlands), and Urban. I am still very proud of what we built, Improvising heavily on-site with plants delivered or exchanged with other gardens during the build of the show.
