A concept plan for the improvement of an existing garden.
A beautiful terrain on a stunning location with views for miles over the existing landscape and forest. Here the most logical response is to connect garden to the landscape to enhance the feeling of harmony. The lawn descents in 4 wide “steps”, in grass, to the parking circle and from there opens up to the rest of the garden, taking the eye into the wilder part of the garden and the beautiful oak forest beyond. Inviting to go out en explore, connecting the more cultivated part of the garden to the wilder part.
The challenge here was to simply the lines, create a pleasant layout, that would match the natural flow of the terrain, while incorporating owners demand for a parking circle.
The driveway will be straightened to match house and the existing restanques, and some restanques will be replaced. A turning circle will be created to define a centre point of the terrain. (and to turn your car)
Between house and driveway a long mixed border will be created to serve as main planting border. The concept is to use a drought tolerant planting scheme that would feel like it naturally belongs there, in type and shape, but with enough seasonal interest to feel like a proper border providing variety, subtlety and year round interest.
Materials used are reclaimed stones from the property, matching well with the existing colorscheme.
